Revelation 21:1–22:6

THE NEW JERUSALEM

Revelation 21:1–22:6

Rev 22:1  Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Rev 22:2  It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were u.sed for medicine to heal the nations.

Water is important to God. It is referred to many times in the Bible. You are born of water, baptized in water, We are sustained and feed  by water etc. Jesus told the woman at the well in   Joh_4:7-14 the last two verse are as follows,  13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 7:37-38New International Version (NIV)37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” It was also mentioned in Eze_47:1-12 where it clearly matched what John saw.
The healing leaves were referring to the healing of all the nations. Life Application New Testament Commentary says it this way." In addition to the fruit, the leaves of the tree were used for medicine to heal the nations. Why would the nations need to be healed if all evil has been eliminated? John was alluding to Eze_47:12, where water flowing from the temple produced trees with healing leaves. He was not implying that there would be illness in the new earth; he was emphasizing that the water of life would produce health and strength wherever it would go. God’s people in his Kingdom will have no physical or spiritual needs. All the hurts of the nations will have been healed."

Rev 22:3  No longer will there be a curse upon anything. For the throne of God and of the Lamb will be there, and His servants will worship Him. Rev 22:4  And they will see His face, and His name will be written on their foreheads.

We were cursed in Genesis, Gen 3:17  And to the man He said, "Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. Gen 3:18  It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. Gen 3:19  By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return."
If you say the opposite the ground will feed us, plants will no longer have thorns and we will not return to dust. I know that sounds rather feeble but imagine a world without any issues that will harm you. No wars, no famine, no worries about your kids or parents, no theft, no crime, the temperature is always pleasant. If you were to imagine the perfect environment that you wanted to live in this one would be better.

Rev 22:5  And there will be no night there—no need for lamps or sun—for the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

The result of the entire book of Revelation is in this verse: God’s people, those who have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, will reign forever and ever. Eternal life is ours now and forever.  (see also Dan_7:18; New International Version (NIV))18 But the holy people of the Most High will receive the kingdom and will possess it forever—yes, forever and ever.’

Rev 22:6  Then the angel said to me, "Everything you have heard and seen is trustworthy and true. The Lord God, who inspires His prophets, has sent His angel to tell His servants what will happen soon. "
