Mathew 25: 1-13

Matthew 25

Matthew 25: 1-13

This is the parable of the 10 bridesmaids. Who are the bridesmaids? We are. This story is about us dealing with our own destiny. This destiny is Heaven or Hell, a major decision to say the least. This is only 13 verses but they are very important to understand. We are the bride of Christ.
Mat 25:1  "Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom.

In Israel at the time of Christ it was a custom for the Bridegroom to go to the house of the bridesmaid after dark to join in the ceremony that was happening at the bridesmaid's home. There were no street lights only the light of the stars and the moon.

Mat 25:2  Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. Mat 25:3  The five who were foolish didn't take enough olive oil for their lamps, Mat 25:4  but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. Mat 25:5  When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. Mat 25:6  "At midnight they were roused by the shout, 'Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!' Mat 25:7  "All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. Mat 25:8  Then the five foolish ones asked the others, 'Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.'

The five brides who brought extra oil the Christians of today. The five who did not bring any oil were the people who have either rejected or held off accepting Christ. The waiting is now right where we are at this time. The Bridegrooms that were coming is the return of Christ. The 5 without oil asked the ones with oil to borrow some but they declined. It was too late. When Christ comes the door is closed and those who believe will be rewarded and those that did not believe will be judged.

Mat 25:9  "But the others replied, 'We don't have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.' Mat 25:10  "But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked.

Once the five without oil discovered that they could not borrow oil they went to town only to return to late. We only have the time God gives us. You may say to yourself, I believe in a higher being and I am a good person surely I will be judged accordingly. Unfortunately that is not how it works. At that time God will say I do not know you. Jesus is our intercessor, he sits on the right hand of God and  whispers in his ear, I know that one but the next is someone that I do not know.

Mat 25:11  Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, 'Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!' Mat 25:12  "But he called back, 'Believe me, I don't know you!' Mat 25:13  "So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of My return.

The world did not evolve into what it is today. God made Heaven and Earth. You can believe it or not that is your decision. God gave us free will. Choosing is up to you.
