Romans 10: 5-12

I was going to try to do the whole chapter 10 and it would become very long. I try to keep everything so that 15 minutes and enough to read this blog. Some of Paul's writing are difficult and will take some looking up and introspection to  understand.

SALVATION IS FOR EVERYONE

Romans 10:5-21

Life Application New Testament Commentary:
Why did God give the law when he knew people couldn’t keep it? According to Paul, one reason that the law was given was to show people how guilty they are (Gal_3:19). In addition, the law was a shadow of Christ—that is, the sacrificial system educated the people so that when the true sacrifice came, they would be able to understand his work (Heb_10:1-4). The system of ceremonial laws was to last until the coming of Christ. The law points to Christ, the final sacrifice for sin, the reason for all those animal sacrifices.

Rom 10:5 For Moses writes that the law's way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.
Lev 18:5 If you obey My decrees and My regulations, you will find life through them. I am the LORD. (Here it is saying obey all the laws and you are good to go).
Jas 2:10 For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws. (Here it is saying break even one and you are condemned)
A big issue here is no one could keep all the commandments of the law and if they didn’t they could be put to death. Therefor God did this. Gal_3:25 And now that the way of faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.
That is all because of Christ. I searched the bible using the words “The Law”. In the new testament alone I had 161 hits. So many were the law forbade this or that or in order to be within the law you had to do this or that. It was an antique law that was put in place to give people order. It also prepared the way for Christ to make obeying the “law” a bit easier.

Rom 10:6 But faith's way of getting right with God says, "Don't say in your heart, 'Who will go up to heaven?' (to bring Christ down to earth). Rom 10:7 And don't say, 'Who will go down to the place of the dead?' (to bring Christ back to life again)." Rom 10:8 In fact, it says, "The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart." And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:

Life Application New Testament Commentary:
10:6-8 Moses also wrote about getting right with God through faith. In verses 6-8, Paul recalls phrases from Deuteronomy 30. The book of Deuteronomy includes Moses’ final speeches to Israel as they were about to enter and subdue the land that God had promised to them many years before. Moses recited the blessings they could look forward to for their obedience to God, as well as the curses they could expect if they disobeyed and turned away from him.
At the conclusion of his third address to the people, Moses explained that the people knew what they had to do to please God (Deu_30:11-14). The message was as near as their lips and heart. No one would have to go to heaven or to the place of the dead to get it so that they would know what to obey. No one has to go up to heaven to bring Christ down as though he had never been incarnated; Christ himself has already come in the flesh (Joh_1:14). No one has to go into the grave to bring Christ up from the dead; Christ has already been resurrected.
Just as God’s message was already clear to the people of Moses’ day, so it is as near as the lips and hearts of Paul’s readers, including us. The words convey an immediate opportunity to respond. It is as close and available to us as it can possibly be without overruling our will. What message is that? Salvation comes from trusting Christ, and it is within easy reach.

Rom 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Rom 10:11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced." Rom 10:12 Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on Him.

The Life Application New Testament Commentary wrote a ton on this and it can be shortened to say that Romans 10:9-12 is what you need to say and believe to become “born again” once in water and the second in spirit. Joh 3:4 "What do You mean?" exclaimed Nicodemus. "How can an old man go back into his mother's womb and be born again?" Joh 3:5 Jesus replied, "I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
