2 Timothy 1:1-2

2 Timothy

GREETINGS FROM PAUL

2 Timothy 1:1-2

Paul was under house arrest when he wrote 1 Timothy but now he had  been imprisoned in a dungeon. The dungeon was remote since it took his friends time to find him. He knew that death was near and his time as a disciple was soon over.
There were three reasons for Paul wrote this letter. 1. He was lonely. Phygelus and Hermogenes "everyone in the province of Asia" ( 1:15) and Demas (4:10)had deserted him.
Crescens, Titus, and Tychicus were away (4:10-12) and only Luke was with him (4:11). Paul wanted to see Timothy  they had been friends for a long time and co-workers also.

2Ti 1:1  This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life He has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.
2Ti 1:2  I am writing to Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

This will be a short introduction to 2 Timothy. There will be contrast to 1 Timothy it will be interesting to see what they are.
