THE SEVENTH TRUMPET BRINGS THE THIRD TERROR
Revelation 11:15-19
The fifth trumpet had brought
in what was considered the first of three “Woes” (Rev_8:13 As I watched, I
saw a solitary eagle flying through the heavens crying loudly, “Woe, woe, woe
to the people of the earth because of the terrible things that will soon happen
when the three remaining angels blow their trumpets.”), the sixth trumpet ushered in the second woe, and the seventh trumpet
would bring the third woe. God is reclaiming the world.
When did God allow Satan to rule the world? Satan was
created as a holy angel. Isaiah 14:12 possibly gives Satan’s pre-fall
name as Lucifer. Ezekiel 28:12-14 describes Satan as
having been created a cherub, apparently the highest created angel. He became
arrogant in his beauty and status and decided he wanted to sit on a throne
above that of God (Isaiah 14:13-14; Ezekiel
28:15; 1 Timothy 3:6). Satan’s pride led to his
fall. Notice the many “I will” statements in Isaiah
14:12-15. Because of his sin, God permanently removed Satan from his
exalted position and role.Satan became the ruler of this world and the prince
of the power of the air (John 12:31; 2
Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 2:2). He is an accuser (Revelation
12:10), a tempter (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thessalonians 3:5), and a deceiver (Genesis
3; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation
20:3). His very name means “adversary” or “one who opposes.” Another of his
titles, the devil, means “slanderer.” From GotQuestions.org.
Rev 11:15 Then the seventh angel blew
his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: "The world has
now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever
and ever."
What Satan had accomplished is about to be totally
destroyed. As stated in the introduction Satan made earth his throne. He
"rules the air" but no more. The end is near and the pit awaits it's
occupant for 1000 years. The 1000 years will be discussed later.
Rev 11:16 The twenty-four elders sitting
on their thrones before God fell with their faces to the ground and worshiped
Him. Rev 11:17
And they said, "We give thanks to You, Lord God, the Almighty, the
One who is and who always was, for now You have assumed Your great power and
have begun to reign. Rev 11:18 The nations were filled with wrath, but now
the time of Your wrath has come. It is time to judge the dead and reward Your
servants the prophets, as well as Your holy people, and all who fear Your name,
from the least to the greatest. It is time to destroy all who have caused
destruction on the earth."
There is no explanation as to whom the twenty four elders
are. They are not Angels because Angels were never allow on a throne. The
Elders also have a lot of influence with God because they sit very near to him
and they talk to him directly.
Rev 11:19 Then, in heaven, the Temple of
God was opened and the Ark of His covenant could be seen inside the Temple.
Lightning flashed, thunder crashed and roared, and there was an earthquake and
a terrible hailstorm.
We continually search for the arc. I think that the verse
above may have told us where it is. I found the quote below on
www.gotquestions.org and love the texture of it. What we think we know is so
small as compare to what we will know and even then we will continue to learn.
God is bigger than forever, and it will take eternity
"to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth and length and depth
and height, and to know the love of Christ" (Ephesians
3:18-19). In other words, we will never stop learning.
