Matthew 24:1-25

Matthew 24:1-25

Jesus was leaving the temple and heading to where they were going to stay the night. Mark 13:4 indicates that the disciples were commenting on the beautiful buildings.
Mat 24:1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. (Mark_13:1) Mat 24:2 And He said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down."

This was a prophesy that came true in 70 AD; The Romans destroyed the second temple just as Jesus had predicted. Additional information here. They Jewish people still have a fast that is called Tisha B'Av that mourns the loss of the second temple.
Mat 24:3  As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

This is a question that all of use would ask. When are you returning? what will happen to us? and so on. The climb to the top of Mount olives was also prophesized in Zechariah 14:1-4. Things being said years prior to Jesus and then being repeated again by Jesus are amazing because years after Jesus ascended these prophesies came true.
Mat 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. Mat 24:5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many.

This happened in biblical times, Act_5:36-37; Act_8:9-11; 2 Timothy 3; 2 Peter 2; 1Jn_2:18; 1Jn_4:1-3). It has happened in our time remember, James Jones, the group called Heaven’s Gate, and most likely it will happen again. If you have read even a few of the hyperlinks those two verses, Mat: 24-25, they are amazing in there truths and we know that the antichrist will also claim he is the Lord of Lords.
Mat 24:6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. Mat 24:7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. Mat 24:8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. Mat 24:9 "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. Mat 24:10 "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. Mat 24:11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Mat 24:12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.

Is that happening in our world today? According to Pastor James McDonald “of the 250,000 Protestant churches in America, 200,000 are either stagnant (with no growth) or declining. That is 80% of the churches in America and maybe the one you attend, if you attend at all.4,000 churches close their doors every single year. There is less than half of the number of churches today than there were only 100 years ago 3500 people leave the church every single day. Since 1950, there are 1/3rd fewer churches in the U.S. in-the-united-states” read more here. For Christians this is scary, that is a lot of souls to lose to Satan.
Mat 24:13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. Mat 24:14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Mat 24:15 "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), (Daniel (90: 27) (Dan_11:31); (Dan_12:11). The Jewish religion had become illegal. As you see in the next verse they had to flee.

Mat 24:16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. Mat 24:17 "Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. Mat 24:18 “Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. Mat 24:19 “But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! Mat 24:20 "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. Mat 24:21 “For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. Mat 24:22 “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. Mat 24:23 “Then if anyone says to you, 'Behold, here is the Christ,' or 'there He is,' do not believe him. Mat 24:24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Mat 24:25 “Behold, I have told you in advance.
These verses are so powerful that I urge you to read them and then investigate them The Life Application New Testament Commentary has so much information on these last verses. Find a commentary and read up on them.
